Louisville, Kentucky (June 2, 2014) - In celebration of the 61st Annual Crusade For Children Benefit on June 7-8, the Louisville Triple Crown of Running will donate $142,639.00 to improve the lives of special needs children. Since 2002, the race series has contributed more than $1.37 million to the Crusade. "The Louisville Triple Crown of Running is one of our largest donors on record each year," said Dawn Lee, Crusade for Children CEO. "This translates into helping more children with special needs. The Crusade is so grateful to all the people who work year-round to make the Triple Crown so successful!"
"Every dollar raised for the Crusade goes to serve children," said Rene' Kesterson, race director for the Papa John's 10 Miler. "Because of this support, children with medical needs in our community will be served. It's humbling to know that children benefit from the races. It's a triple win for everyone, especially the children who receive these services. It's a great cause."
The series, officially named the Louisville Triple Crown of Running, consists of three road races of varying distances and was presented by Novo Nordisk, a world leader in diabetes care, for the 11th consecutive year. The 2014 proceeds, by event, include:
Anthem 5K Fitness Classic - February 22, 2014: $50,000
